PBIS Intervention and Support
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
WHAT IS PBIS?
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. PBIS creates schools where all students succeed.
Grand Blanc Academy prides itself on using positive incentives for the student body. Our schoolwide matrix encourages proactive expectations. These expectations are taught to all students.
Caught Being Good Procedure (CBG)
Students are recognized frequently by their teacher and other staff members with a Caught Being Good ticket.
Students can earn CBGs for following expectations within any area of the building, but especially in the classroom.
Staff members are to complete the CBG for the student. When giving the CBG to the student, this is a great opportunity to reinforce the positive behavior with verbal recognition.
On Tuesday and Thursdays, classrooms will hold a drawing of CBGs
Each teacher will draw 3-5 CGB tickets from the class bucket.
Students who have a CBG drawn may take it to the CBG cart to receive one treat per CBG.

Today’s All Star
Each classroom teacher will pick a Student of the Day. This student will receive a certificate and a spirit stick to collect. He/she may have special privileges in the classroom.

Team Captain
After a student has received five “Today’s All Star” recognitions, they are eligible to become a Team Captain. This is awarded by the classroom teacher with a certificate and a collectible spirit stick.
Most Valuable Player (MVP)
After a student has received recognition for 10 of the “Today’s All Star” certificates, they are eligible to receive the MVP award. They are recognized with a certificate, a spirit stick, and a Grand Blanc Academy tee shirt. This shirt can be worn as part of the GBA uniform.

Positive Office Referral
Students are also recognized for going above and beyond the normal expectations of kindness and accountability with a Positive Office Referral. The student brings the referral to the office and receives a positive call home and the opportunity to eat lunch with the principal.
Team of the Week
Each classroom has the opportunity to be nominated by any staff member for the Team of the Week. Classes that are following the All Star procedures of learning will be nominated with a certificate from any staff member in the building. The class with the most nominations at the end of the week will win a pancake and dance party for the following week. During virtual classes, nominations will be done through email and will be celebrated with a Zoom dance party.
